So in the end, here's the review: If you child's an avid reader, have them go to Carroll's original. This helps maintain interest to the reader. One positive to this particular version is that Slater has tied in several full-color pages of scenes from the Disney movie. In the case of Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland (available in both hardback and softback versions), not only is this editing done from the original manuscript, but it's more condensed from the Disney film version. The issue with any condensed or juvenile version is that editors have to decide what from the original story is worthy to keep and what must be cut out.
